Rainy Day Experiment

It's raining and as much as we would love to be outside playing...it's raining!

We read a big~ole pile of books today.  One of them was Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh.  After reading it, I asked Joseph if he wanted to pretend to be a mouse and do a little painting experiment.  So....

We taped a huge piece of paper to the floor and found our red, blue and yellow washable paints and got to work.

"The yellow mouse hopped into a blue puddle.  His feet mixed and stirred and stirred and mixed until..."
Green!

He did lots of foot washing in between colors.

And because he had so much fun mixing, stirring and dancing with his feet  like the mice in the book, he had to try it all over again using his hands!

His Masterpiece.

Kitchen & Bedroom Makeovers

I recently gave Joseph's room a little makeover. After purchasing new bedding, it was time for fresh paint on the walls and his dresser.

I was having so much fun painting {crazy I know} that I decided to tackle our kitchen.  After painting the cupboards, walls, crown molding and base boards...I really do think that I am crazy.  That was a lot of work but so worth it.  I LOVE IT!

Chalkboard doors are so fun!

Love my new light.

What *easy* room shall I tackle next?! :)

Joseph's 4

We have had a very fun day celebrating Joseph's 4th Birthday!!  Oh my...how did that happen...he isn't really 4 already, is he??

Good Morning Birthday Boy!

Opening presents.

Still can't believe he's 4!

Trip to Toys'R'Us...of course he loved the train table.

Playing Tic Tac Toe with Mommy while we waited for our lunch at Uno's.

He was upset that Uno's didn't have hot dogs until he saw that his chicken nuggets were in the shape of animals.

Vermont Teddy Bear Factory

He built a very special bear.

Reading one of Joseph's new books.

Birthday ice cream sundae {this kid had more sweets today than he has had in a month}!

And now we are chilling out on the couch in our pj's watching one of Joseph's new DVD's.  The perfect way to end a family day filled with lots of cool new memories!

Now to finish preparing for his zoo themed birthday party this weekend!  Can't wait! :)

Camping

Yesterday I read Joseph a story that mentioned going camping and Joseph quickly asked if we could go camping.  Well, with three feet of snow outside, we won't be doing any camping for a while...except in our living room!

A Heart For The Lost

Last night Joseph's Daddy was reading him a few Bible stories from a new kids Bible.  One of the stories that they read was of the Lost Sheep {Luke 15:1-10}.  After reading Matt left the room and I was sitting on the couch next to Joseph.  He was so intent on looking at the pictures of the story when I noticed that he had tears running down his cheeks.  He was so concerned about that one lost sheep.  We then had a good discussion about how much God loves us and would search for us if we went astray {and how much He loves those who have not yet found Him}.  And oh the joy and celebration that comes when we return to The Shepherd!!  This Mother's prayer is that her little guy will always have a heart for the lost and that he would not stray from the Lord, but if he does, that he will remember how much Jesus loves him and return knowing the joy that it will bring to the Lord {and to those who love him so}!

Finally!!

Warning: This is one of those "TMI" posts.

Nearly two weeks ago Joseph decided that he was officially a "Big Boy" and he gave up his pull-ups in exchange for pooping on the potty.  This has been a long, long, long, long {did I say LONG??}time coming.  He has been peeing on the potty for over a year and a half but for whatever reason was afraid to poop on the potty.  We made a very big deal of this accomplishment having a special movie night and eating lots of chocolate chip cookies to celebrate!  Joseph also made a few phone calls to a few special people letting them know that he "pooped on the potty!"  He was so proud of himself!  A BIG thank you to those who got the "I pooped call" for playing it up and acting just as excited as we were...you rock!

Way to go Joseph and so long pull-ups!
