Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp

4 apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
1/3 cup butter, softened
3/4 t. ground cinnamon
3/4 t. ground nutmeg

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Grease bottom and sides of an 8 inch square pan with shortening.  Spread apples in pan.  In a bowl mix remaining ingredients until well blended and sprinkle on top of apples.
Bake for 35 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork.  Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whip cream.  Enjoy!
