Our Sponsored Child

A few years ago we began sponsoring a young girl from Shadow of His Wings Orphanage in Guatemala  www.shadowofhiswingsorphanage.org  We have a very sweet spot in our hearts for her...she is beautiful both inside and out!  In July of 2010 we were planning to go with a missions team to visit this orphanage and assist them with whatever projects that they needed help with.  Two weeks before Matt and I were to board a plane with our team, we got a phone call to adopt Joseph.  Anyone who knows us fully understands how long we had longed for a family and we had to cancel our participation in this long planned for missions trip.  We were so very excited to receive the gift of our son Joseph but were saddened that we could not go on this trip because a very special part of this trip was going to be meeting our sponsored child.  The staff at the orphanage communicated with our sponsored child that we would not be able to come and see her.  A special friend of ours on the missions team, Teri spent one on one time with our sponsored child on our behalf and presented her with the gift that we intended to give her ourselves!   We hope and pray that someday God will give us the opportunity to meet her!  Until such time, we communicate via letters and gifts throughout the year.  We just put together her Christmas present and are preparing to mail it off tomorrow.  We hope that she likes it!
