This morning we put the finishing touches on our Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box. We love participating in this project every year! This is the first time that Joseph is beginning to understand the blessing (and sacrifice) of giving a little boy halfway around the world not just a shoe box filled with fun toys but hygiene items as well. He is having a hard time parting with the little bear that he picked out at the store (that he has named "Goldie") but it has been a great opportunity for us to teach him about sacrifice. The little boy that this shoe box is going to has likely never received a gift in his life and how happy it will make that little boy to receive that special bear.
I hope that you are planning to put together a shoe box as well! If so, we would love to hear about your experience too. Did you have your kids help you pick out items to fill your shoe box? Did they also learn a lesson about sacrifice in the process?
